Best Non-First Party First-Person FPS Games That Deserve A Switch Port

From Survivalcraft Wiki

As many gamers already know, the Nintendo Switch is already home to a lot of non-first-party ports of stellar first-person shooters. The likes of the ground-breaking Bioshock series, the fun-filled Borderlands franchise and the latest two entries of blood-soaked DOOM games have all made their way across, and successfully at that , so what other games still await a chance to grace Nintendo's portable console?

For players out there seeking some great non-first-party first-person shooter games that are deserving of a chance to reignite themselves on Nintendo's latest platform, look no further, as here at Game Rant we've compiled an array of first-person shooters that could soar once again. All that's left to do, is read on.

The year is 2011. It's been four years since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released and made Call of Duty THE go-to game for any first-person shooter gamer. Aiming to rival for that title was Kaos Studios' near-future war FPS Shooter Official Homefront . The marketing for the game was everywhere, and it was poised to be the next big first-person shooter to rival Call of Duty .

In short, that didn't happen. Though the game sold well, it failed to topple the giant. The FPS game reviews was noted for having a short campaign , but short doesn't mean bad. The team at Kaos Studio brought in John Milius, the writer of Red Dawn , who weaved together an interesting tale of a near-future America controlled by the Greater Korean Republic. It may not have been the Call of Duty beater that was promised, but it was still a great shooter, one that delivered a memorable campaign backed by solid gameplay that deserves a second chance to be re-explored on the Nintendo Switch.

Singularity is an exceptional shooter. It wowed players and critics alike when it was released back in 2010 and is considered by many gamers as a game still worth playing to this day. The game is one of the many under-rated first-person shooters out there but still stands proud as one of Raven Software's best games .

The game was a success for many gamers thanks to the high-quality gunplay enhanced by the TMD (Time-Manipulation Device), a device that allowed players to manipulate time objects and enemies with varying effects. It was a fun concept and backed by an interesting time-hopping story, Singularity delivered a stand-out shooter experience. It's a shame more gamers haven't experienced it.

The Wolfenstein series already has a few titles on the Switch, including The New Order sequel, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus . Leaving many gamers' hopes of running through the duology of MachineGames franchise reboot on the portable console a distant dream.

Wolfenstein: The New Order put players into an incredibly twisted Nazi-occupied America. The game is packed full of adrenaline-pumping gunfights, standout villains , and plenty of great mission locations; there's a part where players invade a Nazi base on the Moon. The FPS game tournaments is a brilliant reboot and one that deserves to be ported alongside its sequel.

Most players are probably surprised to see a movie tie-in game make the list of first-person shooters that deserve a switch port, especially when that game came out back in 2005. Yet, to any gamer who's played the game, they'll know exactly why this game has made the list. It's one of the best movie tie-in games ever made.

Though that title alone doesn't do the game justice. The game is a thrilling survival experience on a beast-ridden Skull Island. Ammo is scarce and often makes players grab anything they can to fend for themselves. It was a tension-wrought experience, packed with great moments and well-crafted gameplay. It was a game that never got the chance to grace a Nintendo console, so let it find a way on the Switch.

It's Timesplitters . What gamer doesn't want to see the series brought forward to modern consoles? It's probably more of a surprise that the franchise hasn't had a remastered collection already, especially as the Timesplitters series would likely thrive on any console. However, the Nintendo Switch would be the best home for a direct port of the game.

The Switch is already a go-to hub for many couch gaming experiences, whether that be party games or just a fun night with others. Timesplitters had, for many gamers, the funniest split-screen shooter experience out there, and with a host of great weaponry and game modes, it'll be just the same today. Add to that the great story mode and a whole host of zany characters to play and there's no questioning that I'd be another surefire hit.

Far Cry 3 was the game that cemented the Ubisoft open-world formula that is known today. Underpinning that open-world is an unhinged gaming villain who elevates the already stellar story and well-refined combat only adds to the many reasons that players keep coming back time after time.

It may not be the most recent in the Far Cry timeline, but it's still one of the best open-world shooters out there. With so many Assassin's Creed games already ported over to the Switch, it feels like it's time Ubisoft shared that same love with Far Cry .

In 2014, Respawn Entertainment released Titanfall. It was an Xbox-exclusive first-person shooter that was multiplayer only. So, when they released the multi-platform sequel two years later, no one was quite prepared for Titanfall 2 to deliver one of the best first-person shooter campaigns in recent times, let alone a truly addictive multiplayer component to boot.

The campaign mode was executed to an inch of perfection. The game was packed to the brim with inventive gameplay moments and exciting level design that made playing through the campaign an absolute joy for any gamer. Coupled with excellent movement mechanics and hulking Titan battles, the game offered everything a first-person shooter fan could want. Though the port could be a chance to reinvigorate the excellent online mode, it'd still be worth the price of admission for the campaign alone.

Considering the Switch has been out since 2017, it's strange that Activation hasn't brought a single Call of Duty game across to the Nintendo platform. So what better option than the fan favorite that is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ? The game has a beloved single-player campaign that many fans would love to re-experience.

Though many players would love to go back to the great online multiplayer, thanks to its well-crafted map design and weaponry, the game would still stand on its own as a campaign-only package. Another go at the 'All Ghillied Up' sniper mission? Yes, please.
