Well, that's only a preliminary experiment at best. The heating effect of fires needs to be tested in an enclosed space. See Heating Your House and [this blog] for details on the experiments I've run.

Besides, the setup you have is inconclusive - the heating effect spreads out over a distance. You might take that world, remove the two fires and see what the results are. The other thermometers are likely influenced by the presence of the magma.

My original test world is somewhere but I don't know where, yet. I can rerun the tests in 2.0, once I get time.
