Here's the easiest way to catch all whales. First build a tank at least 17 by 17 blocks(length and width)and 8 blocks deep. The bigger the tank the less likely the whales will die. Next go far away from the shore but not to far. Stay in the spot and wait for a whale to spawn. It may take awhile, but one will spawn eventually. When one does spawn, either hit it or lure it with meat. Using meat will take longer, but hitting the whale will lower his or her health. I know whales have a lot of health but hitting them to much is still cruel. Now once you get the whale near his or her tank, dig a 4 by 4 hole in the tank. Then put fish in the tank to lure the whale into the tank. Close off the tank. Repeat this if you want more whales. Tip: if your tank is on land dig out a 4 block wide path to transport the whale. Once the whale is on the path close the path off from the ocean and use the fish method. Sorry this was so long. Hope this helps :)
